Where should we confess our sins?

One of the sacraments teached by the Catholic Church is the sacrament of Confession wherein a member will tell everything that he has done to a priest. Later on the priest will tell the person to pray some repetitious prayer before the altar for his sins to be forgiven. However, why would you tell your sins to the priest? If you are suppose to confess your sins, the bible says that we should confess it to God and to the person whom we have offended.

(Psalms 32:5)

I acknowledge my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the LORD; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah.

(James 5:16)

Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

According to history, confession has been use by the Catholic Church in order to suppress heresy. Rebels against the Church and the State were exposed because their members of their family would often go the Priest and confess of what they know.

  1. What according to history! ! pls. indicate if what standard references you are talking to. . . confession was already there on the time of the apostle. In 2 Cor. 5:18(KJV), God given us the ministry of reconciliation, Mat9:8 Given that authority to men. (Men there is in plural form), Jn 20:22, 2Cor 2:10,Rm15:16

    • Ask you Great Grandfather if you have one. Many Filipino Patriots were put to jail or worse, killed because their activities were discovered through the sacrament of confession.

  2. Furthermore Jesus CLEARLY STATED:

“whoever SINS you forgive, THEY ARE FORGIVEN” (John 20:23)

Catholic Priests has this power. WHENEVER THEY GIVE ABSOLUTION to a penitent. THEY WERE FORGIVEN.

Now ChristianACCUSER, tell me. HOW DID PAPA ELI manifests this BIBLICAL PASSAGE?

    • Is Christ speaking to a Catholic Priest or to his Apostles?

  3. Another correction:

its 2 CORINTHIANS 5:18 and not JOHN 5:18

CHRISTIANACCUSER, PLEASE USE CORRECT GRAMMAR. there’s no such english word “TEACHED” it must be “TAUGHT” hahahaha

    • Are you sure that there is no such word as teached? You better correct this dictionary.

      1. teached 35 up, 35 down
buy teached mugs, tshirts and magnets
      teached (teechd)
–verb: past tense and past participle of “teach”. Commonly used in Trinidad by the most educated people.
“Ummm, where have you teached before?”

  4. The wicked are among those who teach strange teachings….. They are blinded by their shallow understanding of bible passages. Thus, being literal in conveying in unveiling mysteries of the bible. One should have an open mind and the guidance of the Holy Spirit which Dating Daan has none because they are too independent in the bible… Through history the Roman Catholic Church produced a multitude of holy men and women, people who dedicated their lives in serving the Lord and by the example of our Lord Jesus Christ. thus, making our church a certified institution for the Greater Glory of our God.

  5. Are you not an apostle if you preach, are you? Are you not an apostle of Christ if you have known the words of God? Tell me… The bible passage does not state the 12 apostles are the only ones who can forgive. Your argument christiandefenders is childish… Your too illiterate.

    • Does your Priests claim to be Apostles?

      • @ ChristianACCUSER:

you use a terrible and SHALLOW ARGUMENT WITH FALLACY HERE.. hahaha.. “Does your priests claim to be apostles?”

the best answer is that, our PRIESTS possess the APOSTOLIC SUCCESSION!!

if you ask a Priest who ordained him, he CAN give you the name of the Bishop. If you ask a Bishop who ordained him, he CAN TELL you the name tha one ordained him, and so forth and so forth until it reach the Apostles with UNBROKEN LINE OF SUCCESSIONS.

WHAT about you? “does PAPA Eli claim to be apostle”? who ordained him? its Nicholaz Perez, who ordained Nicholaz Perez? i think Teofilo Ora, who ordained Teofilo? he was just passed by Manalo. who ordained Manalo? no more.. wa na.. WA.. WA.. hahahahaha..

oh c’mmon!! dont make us FOOL.. you FOOL.. hahaha

  6. ahahahaha!!! ow my!! Christian Accuser!! you already fired up yourself on your very own blog. you even used http://teached.urbanup.com/ hahaha.. are you insane? from you own reference it states, its a VERB and is a PAST TENSE..

but on your statement above you said:

“One of the sacraments TEACHED by the Catholic Church is the sacrament of Confession wherein a member will tell everything that he has done to a priest.”

is it a PAST TENSE? hahaha.. c’mon!! until now the Church teach such doctrine!! hahaha.. its not PAST EVENT.

  7. It is indeed in the past tense and there is no question with that. However, you categorically say that

“there’s no such english word “TEACHED” it must be “TAUGHT” hahahaha”

You claimed that there is no such word as “teached” but when I show you the dictionary, you even acknowledged that it is in the past tense therefore belying your first claim that there is no such word. Now you’re in a panic!

  8. do you think a normal wicked man shall confess his sins to a minister of God who has the power to suspend or expel in the Biblical Christian Church? (It is not Catholic Church because she never suspends or expels evil members)

the power to forgive sins means that the preacher had known it from other sources like witnesses or something and not It was directly said by the sinner.

the verse to know the exact meaning of how when the apostles will forgive sins is the people’s sins will be forgiven is this:

Romans 1:16 ¶ For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

It is the power of the Gospel that when you believed, your sins will be forgiven.

you cannot read in the New Testament Bible that St. Paul or other apostles offer themselves to ask someone to tell their sins and soon forgive them.

If we will take it literally, then It will contradict this verse:

Matthew 6:15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

The priest may or not forgive sin but Jesus taught his listeners to forgive the sins whom they sinned against you.

besides no man has the power to ask and forgive sins but God only especially his Son.

because they are the only one who can cleanse from from our misdeeds (1 John 1:9)
